If you already own the Flamethrower, the flames will remove the Potato Eater on contact. Treat this as a fallback rather than the main counter, because the Flamethrower is a late-game $27,000 purchase from the street shop across the road, and you should not buy it just for one anomaly.

The Flamethrower pays for itself primarily as a key-search tool: it burns through the outdoor potato pile while you dig for the hidden Golden Key, and every potato the flames destroy is converted into cash so nothing is wasted.
