Stack production upgrades
Conveyor Belt, Vacuum, Auto Peeler, Auto Fryer. The kitchen has to run itself before the key grind starts, or you will lose time to bottlenecks.
Layer in defenses
Window Fries Shooter plus a Cross or Gun kept equipped at night. Anomalies cannot be allowed to interrupt the burn.
Save a cash reserve for the Flamethrower
$27,000 at the street shop across the road. Treat the cross-the-road trip as a daylight job.
Drink a Money Potion
Drink it immediately before starting the burn so the cash payout from destroyed potatoes is multiplied.
Burn the pile with the Flamethrower
Every potato the flames destroy is converted into cash, so nothing is wasted during the burn.
Pick up the Golden Key
The door displays the text "You have the key!" once you have it.
Open the exit door
Walk to the shop's exit door and open it. Opening that door counts as a win and ends the run.

Guides explicitly warn against sprinting straight to the key grind from the start. The run goes much faster when production upgrades are stacked first, defenses are layered in next, and the key search only starts once cash flow is stable. What if the key drops during normal cooking
The Golden Key surfaces naturally when its potato is processed. You do not have to wait for the Flamethrower — if your kitchen is already running and you spot the key, pick it up and walk to the door. The Flamethrower is the fastest path, not the only path.
Hard Mode and the Golden Key
Hard Mode does not change the Golden Key mechanic itself — the key is still hidden inside one potato in the pile. The change is that The Giant appears regularly starting on Night 2, so every outdoor trip to the pile carries more risk. Finish outdoor work before 8:00 PM, stock up on ammo for the Window Fries Shooter, and sprint inside the moment "THE GIANT!" flashes.
