Gems come from three places: a free spin on the daily prize wheel, a 100-Gem payout for every completed run, and the FreeGems code for another 100. Spend them on lobby upgrades in this order — Gem Bonus (50), Walk Speed (25), Lives (250), then Money Multi (40) — and leave the 25-gem class spins alone unless you already have the upgrade buffer, because Potato King is a 0.2% roll.

The daily prize wheel

The lobby prize wheel gives one free spin per day. The published rewards on the wheel are:

  • A Class Spin
  • 25 Gems
  • 75 Gems
  • A Revive
  • Two additional spins
  • A jackpot prize that grants a permanent Flamethrower

The probability of each slice has not been published, so treat the wheel as a bonus rather than a budgeted gem source — you cannot plan around a specific slice.

During the Halloween event the wheel is replaced. The Halloween Chest temporarily takes the wheel's place, which means the daily free spin pays out event Candy instead of Gems until the event ends. If your gem income feels like it dropped in October, this is why.

If you already own a Flamethrower, the jackpot slice is worth less to you than the Gems slices are. Keep spinning for Gems and take the jackpot when you have not bought the tool yet — see the Flamethrower upgrade page.

Recommended lobby buy order

  1. Gem Bonus — 50 Gems

Buy this first. It multiplies the Gems you earn from every run and every future spin, so it pays for itself before you have bought anything else.

Done when: Gem Bonus is at ×1.1 and every run is paying the boosted amount.

  2. Walk Speed — 25 Gems

The cheapest upgrade on the list and the one that cuts the most dead time. Less time crossing the road means more potatoes processed per night.

Done when: Walk Speed is at +1 and your trips to the outdoor pile are shorter.

  3. Lives — 250 Gems

The most expensive upgrade and the one that saves runs. Buy it once your gem income is stable enough that it will not delay the rest of the ladder.

Done when: Lives are at 2 and you can afford to keep saving after buying it.

  4. Money Multi — 40 Gems

Buy this last. It multiplies Cash, which only matters once your production line is already running efficiently enough to convert speed into money.

Done when: Money Multi is at ×1.2 and the Cash gain shows up in your run total.

What a class spin actually costs you

A class spin costs 25 Gems and picks randomly from all seven classes. You cannot choose which class you get, and free spins also come from watching an advertisement or winning a Class Spin slice on the prize wheel.

The odds are:

ClassRaritySpin chance
Potato KingDivine0.2%
Fry TycoonMythic1.3%
Fry CookEpic10%
Head ChefLegendary4.5%
RunnerRare16%
PeelerUncommon28%
DishwasherCommon40%

Do not chase Potato King with Gems. At 0.2% it takes roughly 500 spins on average for one, which is about 12,500 Gems. Dishwasher and Peeler alone account for 68% of spins, so most of your Gems will buy you a class you already play past. The full ranking is on the Classes page.

Save class spins until the lobby ladder above is bought out. Potato King is also the class with a +50% Gems bonus, so the smarter route to a Potato King run is to bank the upgrades first and take the class when it arrives rather than gambling for it.

FAQ

What is the best way to earn Gems in Sell Fries! [Anomaly]?

You get 100 Gems for a completed run, one free spin a day on the lobby prize wheel, and 100 more from the FreeGems code. Spend them on the lobby upgrades in order — Gem Bonus (50), Walk Speed (25), Lives (250), then Money Multi (40) — rather than on 25-gem class spins.
