Unlock condition
Finish any Normal run of Sell Fries! [Anomaly] — that is, dig the Golden Key out of the outdoor potato pile and open the shop's exit door. Once you have completed a Normal run, Hard Mode becomes available in the difficulty selector. For the Normal-run walkthrough, see the Golden Key page.

Hard Mode priority order
Finish every outdoor job before 8:00 PM
Collect potatoes, finish deliveries, return across the road.
Stock a Cross or Gun
Keep it equipped at night for the chase threats.
Keep the Window Fries Shooter loaded
Reload with ammo before each shift so the Window Anomaly never escalates into a Drive-Through Crawler.
Layer in the production upgrade chain
Conveyor Belt → Vacuum → Auto Peeler and Auto Fryer → Window Fries Shooter — shift the budget slightly earlier toward the Window Fries Shooter and ammo than you would on Normal.
Drink a Money Potion before burning the pile
Multiply the cash payout from the Flamethrower burn when you can afford it.
Sprint inside on THE GIANT!
Cross and Gun do not stop The Giant, so dodging indoors is the only counter.
Take the Walk Faster perk
+15% movement speed whenever it rolls — it is higher value on Hard Mode because it improves your chance of dodging The Giant's ground-circle beams if you are caught outside.
Surviving The Giant on Hard Mode
The Giant is the single mechanical reason Hard Mode feels different. Its counter does not change: sprint inside the shop as soon as the "THE GIANT!" warning appears and stay there until the boss passes. If you are caught outside, dodge by relocating during the gaps between beams — red circles on the ground mark where a beam is about to land, and the safe spots turn green between volleys.
